Winter 23' N. Platte River Fishing Report

Winter 23' N. Platte River Fishing Report

Posted by Ryan Anderson on 11th Dec 2023

Happy Holidays everyone! Fishing is great right now in Central Wyoming. The guides have been guiding and also enjoying a little time on the rod themselves. On to the important stuff:

The Reef: 500 CFS: The Reef has been fishing great all week and should stay that way for the near future. The fish are fat and eating hard in preparation for the cold to come. The guides have been fishing a lot of leeches and rock worms. Natural and black on the pine squirrel leeches and red and purple on the rock worms. Dropping a mayhem or a chocolate foam post has also been working well. San Juan worms and eggs are also picking up some fish. Swinging the Kreelex (silver and gold) or the 2 Hook Johnny has been a lot of fun too!

The Mile: 550 CFS: The Mile has been very productive lately. The lake fish are showing up and stoked. Please watch out for and don’t fish the redds as they are busy making more fish for us all to enjoy. That being said, the deep classic runs of the Mile are loaded up. Similar fare as the Reef, a lot of leeches and rock worms. The hot head leech in black and wine colors. Natural and black on the pine squirrel leeches and red and purple on the rock worms. Dropping a mayhem, no mercy midge or a chocolate foam post has also been working well. San Juan worms and eggs are also picking up some fish. Swinging your favorite streamer will also work in the middle of the run and in the tail outs.

Fremont: 75 CFS. Beats me, haven’t fished it lately. Try a midge. ?

Get out and enjoy this weather window! Swing into the shop for some bugs. We will have the coffee on.
