Saw your display at the Denver show, thought I'd share a tip. Being a long time carp freak, I found myself wandering into some of the coves on the east side of Glendo a couple years ago. It was spring, and the carp were starting to spawn in the shallows. I was having pretty good luck with a black 'bugger in the cloudy water, when I started wondering if there might be anything (unseen) taking advantage of the "caviar". I tied on a chart. crystal egg, let it sink out of sight, and retrieved it VERY slowly. Eleven catfish, and one broken 6wt. rod later.... I had my answer!!
Try it if you haven't.
Thanks, Loren

Flies - craw fish patterns, rust-colored leech patterns, Artic fox and marabou clousers, all in sizes 6-10. The lake is falling due to draw downs to supply water to commercial shipping in the Mississippi River, so the aquatic critters are fleeing the expanding bank. Carp are feeding heavily during the exodus. Rains last weekend may have slowed the fishing, but it should still be good. |
