Galvan Torque Large Arbor Fly Reel
The revised Galvan Torque fly reel now comes in a multitude of colors and has a rounded spool and frame rims, to the contoured counter balance, to the uniquely designed cutouts on the spool, frame, and drag knob, to the innovative new drag system. The drag system for the Galvan Torque Fly Reel is composed of stainless steel and a state-of-the-art, heat- and wear-resistant thermoplastic unlike anything else on the reel market. The Torque fly reel is completely salt water safe, and will continue to perform flawlessly under the harshest conditions from the flats and the blue water to the mountain streams and the coastal rivers. The Galvan Torque comes in a wide color selection as well including Black, Burnt Orange, Clear, Green and Blue.
As the premier reel in the Galvan series, the Torque Fly Reel represents the culmination of a lifetime of fly-fishing and passion for reel design. Simply stated, it represents the very best of modern fly reel architecture. The Torque was created because Boni wanted to create a revolutionary reel with more sufficient drag system than was presently available on the market and it had to be sexy. Thus the Torque Fly Reel was born
The unique Torque fly reel, the 4th series in creation, was the first reel released with our Galvan Torque drag system, which is now employed in all of our reels. Its inception was in late 2002 with prototypes coming to life in 2003. After being tested, retested and modified it was finally released to the public in 2004. It immediately won the 2004 Editors choice in Fly Fish America and was ranked #3 in the recent 8-weight reel shootout, beating out all other reels in function and price (link). Its original style and unique porting has solidified Galvan’s reputation as a leading innovator in the industry.
The visually striking appearance of the Galvan Torque Fly Reel is a result of the unique cutouts on the frame, spool, drag knob and foot. This design is not only aesthetic but also structural as it significantly reduces the weight of the reel while maintaining strength and increasing rigidity .The rounded rims on both spool and frame enhance durability to better withstand impact during extreme angling conditions.
From first glance, the hand is drawn to the reel and from the first crank of the contoured counter balance spool, the quality becomes apparent: efficiency and simplicity driven by function. In this case, less is more and cost is no exception as the Torque retails at half the price of reels in its class.
The Torque is saltwater safe, and will perform flawlessly under the harshest conditions. From remote alpine lakes to the saltwater flats the highly ventilated spool and frame balance nicely with the lightest of todays fly rods yet still compliments a modern big game saltwater stick. Tough as nails and skillfully marries the technology of the future with the tradition of the past you need a Galvan Torque Fly Reel.

Torque, moment, or moment of force (see the terminology below) is the tendency of a force to rotate an object about an axis, fulcrum, or pivot. Just as a force is a push or a pull, a torque can be thought of as a twist to an object. Mathematically, torque is defined as the cross product of the lever-arm distance vector and the force vector, which tends to produce rotation.

Excellent Reel and Excellent Customer Service
Excellent reel. Very easy to handle and balances well with my pole. Spools are easy to change out which is great if you are changing line for different fishing scenarios. Very importantly, the customer service here is great. They set me up and delivered my poles, reels and other fly fishing accessories in time before my trip. Great place to shop!

galvan torque's ugly duckling to swan
this galvan torque (t-5) is perfect for my #6 rod for panfish, trout or smallmouth bass. why galvan torque? why not abel super series, hatch 5+, lamson speedster series or nautilus 'x'? 1). drag knob is easy to micro-tune drag adjustment starting from 1 pound up (trout) plus max drag up to 15 pounds (come in handy to except the unexception of catching bigmouth bass or north pike). 2). push button spool release is simple pleasure friendly for me to switch the second spool. 3). arbor design looked funny in the picture on website. but i received the reel in person, it turned to become from ugly duckling to swan in my hand. it has helped with drying backing more quickly plus the maximum strength-to-weight ratio. 4). smooth feeling is easy to grab and crank on & to counter-balance weigth for wobble-free rotation. it's corrosion resistant & saltwater safe. 5). my x-mas wish list is having another galvan torque (t-10) reel for bigmouth bass, north pike, musky, steelhead and salmon.

Galvan Torque
I presented my wife with a Galvan Torque reel for her 6 weight Winston BIIx rod. After playing and landing many huge rainbows and browns on our guided drifts down the North Platte, she will use no other reel. She loves it and considers it her "river jewelry." We plan to fish for steelhead this year and you can guess which reel she wants!

Galvan Torque Fly Reels
I've used the Galvan Torque for trout to billfish for the past 7 years. One of the finest fly reel and drag systems I've ever used and I highly recommend it to anyone headed for big game species. None of the reels I've used in the salt show any signs of corrosion and in the same shape the day I bought them. Capt. Mark Boname

$4$
Seriously, dollar for dollar this is the best reel you can get. I own multiple Galvan reels ranging from a Brookie 3 and T4 to T9. Beautiful engineering and craftsmanship. Bulletproof and will last a lifetime. Incredible customer service from a US family owned business. Love the colors. Wouldn't use anything else outside of the need for big game salt reels. You won't be disappointed.

Best ever Fly Reel
I have been fishing T-5 reel for many years (including a couple days landing those big rainbows on the North Platte) and it is outstanding in every respect. Smooth reliable drag, easily adjustable; durable quality, great fit and feel. I have an extra reel for switching to my 6-weight as well. This is a lifetime investment and well worth the price. U.S. made as well.

Great reel, great service
Bought this reel per suggestion of a friend, and I am very happy with it. Light, smooth, and just a beautiful reel. Especially appreciated it coming loaded with Dacron over braid backing as part of the price. Thank you!

Great reel, great service!
Bought this for a new custom fly rod based on various excellent reviews, both by consumers and professional publications, and i'm very satisfied. Silky drag, very high quality build! Platte River didn't have the color I wanted in stock, but they contacted Galvan and had them expedite shipping to me directly so I'd have it for an upcoming trip. They included the fly line so I'd be ready to go. Great experience and I'll be a repeat customer.

Outstanding Quality
I just purchased the Galvan Torque fly reel #6. I did a lot of research on fly reels primarily used for trout and other fresh water fish. I wanted a large arbor to improve retrieve speed and a great drag for large fish. Without question, the Galvan came to the top as a recommendation from various fly shops and available information. It is light, beautifully constructed and it has an outstanding drag. I bought the burnt orange and it looks great with my Sage rod. Platte River also put backing and line on it at no charge.
