Regal Medallion Vise is the flagship vise of the Regal Vise line-up. The REGAL Medallion VISE comes with many base and head options and is ready for small flies on up to streamer hooks.

Regal Medallion Vise

The Regal Medallion fly tying vise is the flagship of our line. This iconic and often imitated design is the pinnacle of vise technology. Open the Jaws, insert your hook and start tying. There is nothing to adjust even when you are switching from a tiny midge to a huge streamer hook. All MEDALLION VISES revolve around a 360° axis and articulate 220° up and down. This vise is available with many head and base options.

The truly amazing thing about purchasing a REGAL VISE is that you can get the exact vise that will match your style of fly tying. Simply choose the REGAL HEAD based on the range of hooks you normally tye on. Match the HEAD with the BASE or C-Clamp you would like and you have the perfect

VISE.

Fly Tying is a multifaceted art. Some choose to tie with speed and economy, and others take notice that every wrap is perfectly and artfully placed. The common denominator is that all tiers need their hook held firm. We have spent decades designing and manufacturing VISES that will perform perfectly for any style Fly Tier. Whatever you choose to tie, we have a head that will suit your style and hook choices perfectly.

THE TRADITIONAL HEAD
This is a fantastic option for most Fly Tiers. This head is designed to handle most freshwater (for cold & warm-water species) and lighter saltwater
hooks. Available on MEDALLION, REVOLUTION, and TRAVEL VISES. Holds hooks size 22 to 1/0

THE MIDGE HEAD
This is the best option for Fly Tiers concentrating on tail-waters and spring creeks for Trout. This head is specifically designed to handle small
freshwater hooks. Available on MEDALLION, and TRAVEL VISES. Holds hooks size 32 to 6

THE BIG GAME HEAD
This is the best option for Fly Tiers targeting large predatory species in cold, warm, or saltwater. This head is specifically designed to handle truly large hooks. Available on MEDALLION, REVOLUTION and TRAVEL VISES. Holds hooks size 22 to 5/0 - Ergonomic Handle

THE HOOK HEAD
This is for the perfectionist tyer that loves those small, intricate patterns. The cut-out, hook-style design allows for greater access to tie down at the bend of the shank without needing to reposition your hook. Of course, you can position your hook in class Regal-fashion; however, we added more material to the tip of these jaws so you can keep the hook point in the jaws itself! No more snagging! This new jaw will make tying a breeze without sacrificing any of that Regal Vise Bulldog Bite.

THE STAINLESS STEEL HEAD
The REGAL STAINLESS STEEL HEAD is the professionals choice, allowing you to tye tiny midges up to huge streamers. This head accepts the largest range of hook sizes. Available on MEDALLION, and TRAVEL VISES. Holds hooks size 32 to 2 - Ergonomic Handle

All Medallion series vises with Regular jaws come with a classic cam and classic material clip. All other Medallion series vises come with a smooth cam do not come with a material clip. Any vise can be custom ordered with the cam of their choice for and additional $35.00, corresponding material clip included.

Comfort handles come standard with all Revolution vises and Medallion series vises except midge and regular.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR VISE
All Regal vises and accessories are manufactured to last a lifetime. As with all precision equipment, the tool simply needs some routine tender loving care. Regal suggests a drop or two of gun oil every so often rubbed into the surface of the head and stem not unlike you would do to a prized firearm. This simple task will bring out the true color and luster of the vise and help preserve it.

CONVERTING YOUR VISE LEFT-HANDED

All Regal vises are shipped as right-handed. Making the vise left-handed is a very simple procedure and only takes a few minutes. On the under side of the vise you will see a hex nut in the ball that holds the jaw handles in place. Simply loosen the nut with a 7/64’’ hex wrench and swing the jaw handle to the other side. Tighten the hex nut and you are ready to tie from the left-hand position.

Head color is shown with tool bar for color purposes only.  Tool bar not included with this vise.

About Regal Fly Tying Vises

Regal Vise is a small family-owned business in the tiny little hill town of Orange, Massachusetts. Don Barnes, the owner of Regal Vise, acquired the company back in 2004 from a good friend who was ready to retire. Don saw the potential of the business and jumped at the opportunity. He knew that with his knowledge of manufacturing and the fly-fishing industry, that he could take things to the next level. Through a lot of hard work, shaking hands at fly-tying shows, word-of-mouth advertising, and making a few updates to an already great product, the company started to grow. In 2008, Don’s daughter Cassie joined the Regal team. She now manages the office and is in charge of customer care.

When you purchase a Regal Vise, it’s like you are joining the family. You are supporting a small business and letting us continue to do what we love – working together to provide a quality product and quality customer care. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to continue to create these amazing vises.

    Pull the trigger

After years of dealing with inferior fly vises, I finally popped for a Regal -should've done it eons ago. The real beauty is in its simplicity of design. Holds a hook with a bulldog grip; a simple squeeze bites down on it. no more slippage. One simple, reliable piece of engineering - worth every penny. And PlatteRiv got it to me directly; even with the covid tsunami, it was here in a week.

    Just do it

Pretty new to tying and started on a "beginner" vise. After deciding I would continue tying looked to upgrade. After much research decided on this. The ease of use in loading the hook and there is NO slip is just awesome. Very well built precision tool worth every penny.

    still a great vise

I've used a Regal for decades. I purchased a second one this year as a gift for one of our sons. He has been tying flies for some time, and has had troubles with the inexpensive vises he has been using. His research led him to Regal, and I understand why. I purchased it with the clamp, but opted to make a base for him as well (I don't see paying $100 or more for what I can make for less than $10 out of scrap steel), so I had a chance to inspect the new vise. It appears to be the same quality as my old one, and it is good to see that hasn't changed.
