Bauer RX Fly Fishing Fly Spool

Featuring awesome performance, superb quality and a beautiful, contemporary aesthetic, RX trout and saltwater reels represent the pinnacle of USA manufacturing and design, and redefine smooth and reliable.

RX 1, 2, 3, 4

Smaller, lightweight reels with large V-arbor spools designed for excellent line and backing capacities and fast retrieval. They can handle lines 2wt though 8wt and are ideal for all freshwater applications, as well as light salt. Perfect for trout, smallmouth bass, bonefish and other species.

RX 5, 6, 7

These larger RX reels were designed to handle and subdue extremely powerful fish such as charging GT's, jumping 100lb+ tarpon, peacock bass, dorado, permit and other hard fighters that will quickly prove whether a reel is up to the task. These large RX fly reels have stronger seals, a more powerful structure and a drag system that features multiple carbon discs to shut down any screaming fish and five times the surface area for maximum stopping power and control.  The large V-arbor spool provides maximum backing needs and quick retrieval.

Bauer fly reels are designed and handcrafted in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty.

Bauer revolutionized the fly reel world in 1995 with an award-winning design that combined superior large arbor performance with an innovative yet simple “zero-backlash” drag clutch. With a background in race cars and precision technology, Jon Bauer had a different perspective on how a fly reel should work. By applying principals of basic physics, he came to an obvious conclusion: the best design for a direct drive fly reel was one with a large arbor spool that minimized the variance of moment arm effect. The result was a reel with vastly improved line handling and retrieval, as well as superior drag performance. Over the years, Bauer has continued this tradition of design evolution, precision engineering and unmatched performance. Today, our reels are considered to be among the finest made and have earned a reputation among serious anglers and guides as the “Swiss watch of fly reels.”

What matters most in a fly reel is reliability.

You can’t put a price on that.

A reel must be smooth, seamless, and consistent – every time, in all conditions. The slightest hitch – or worse, a complete lockup – means the difference between landing the fish of a lifetime or losing it.

A Bauer reel is going to perform, period.
