Simms Guide Vest: Perfect, splendid, outstanding fabric, practical attention to details with deep, wide, pockets and marvelous zippers. "Greystone" with rust accents is visually appealing, comfortable and well balanced. Google showed Platte River as providing the lowest price, (significantly less than Amazon) and the shipping and service from Casper, Wyoming is excellent--arriving via priority mail in 3 days.
This vest has more than enough pockets. I chose the GREYSTONE color as I believe it will blend in with tree's along river banks and lakes so I won't spook fish. It has a good fit and think it will be all anyone could ask for. Can't wait to try it out on western trout. The shipping and service from Platte River Fly Shop is outstanding. Look forward to doing more business with them.
This is the first vest I have bought in over 25 years. Previously had an Orvis Takl-pkt vest. This vest has so many features I wanted and the material is light, cool, very attractive. The pockets are well placed, and there are many. The pockets for fly boxes are varied in size, and zipper configuration. The back has two pockets, one short for carrying things you might want reach without taking off the vest, and a deeper one for a rain jacket (or lunch). I used to wear a medium, but when fishing in cooler weather it was too small. I am a size 41 chest and the large fits perfectly. I like that it has 4 D-rings, two built in lanyards, and tiny pockets to organize tippet and small things. Overall, a very handy configuration. I am a vest man, not a sling pack guy, and if you are too, I highly recommend this vest.
I'm made a lot of research to replace my old patagonia fishing vest, and finally decided for this one. Like always, Simms exceeded my expectations. Simms is 'THE' brand for fly fishing, where details always make the difference. In this vest i found everything I needed and more. Lots of pockets. Perfect size. Build in zingers. It is light and comfortable. Proffesional stuff.
